Cruzan Breeze Parasailing - St. Croix, USVI

Parasailing around St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands

Frequently Asked Questions

How does parasailing work, how do we get into and out of the air?
Using our custom manufactured parasail boat, the participants (fliers) are reeled on and off the boat using a hydraulically controlled winch to insure safe, dry takeoffs and landings.

Do I need any experience or to be physically fit to parasail?
No experience is necessary, your captain and crew will take care of getting you up in the air and back down safe and sound.  All you have to do is hang loose and enjoy the ride.  However, anyone with a physical ailment such as back or neck injuries/problems must inform the captain before disembarking.   We do not recommend that people with back or neck injuries/problems go on the boat at anytime due to the bumpiness of the ride.

How should I dress/ what should I bring on the boat?
Dress for the weather,  if you are sensitive to the sun we recommend that you bring a long sleeved shirt/sweatshirt.  Bathing suits or beach attire is always recommended, as are towels, bottled water, sun block, and perhaps a tip for the crew.

What should I leave behind?
We recommend you leave behind anything that is likely to get damaged by contact with water as well as anything that is very expensive or otherwise difficult to replace.  This would include your camera, your cell phone, and your $400 sunglasses.  Feel free to ask the captain to hold onto your car keys, etc while you’re on board if you like.  We recommend that you leave your shoes behind.

Are reservations required?
Reservations are nearly always necessary.   We recommend that you book your trip several days in advance (ideally at the beginning of your vacation) because we are often booked a day or more in advance and also because inclement weather may force us to reschedule your trip. Deposits are required for advance reservations. 24 hour cancellation policy applies to advance reservations. You must cancel a reservation at least 24 hrs prior to avoid losing your deposit.

Do we have to be able to swim?
No. Since all takeoffs and landings are done from the back of the boat you don’t even have to get wet.    In the extremely unlikely event of boat malfunction, the parasailors slowly drift down to the water wearing a lifejacket.

Do I ever have to touch the water?
No, not if you don’t want to.  Be sure to make it clear to the captain that you do not want to touch the water, if this is the case.  However most people enjoy a small dip in the water.

What happens if the boat stops suddenly or if the tow line breaks?
If the boat suddenly stops for any reason the participants will slowly and safely descend towards the water. In the unlikely event of a mechanical malfunction, or the rope breaking participants would continue descent until they are gently lowered into the water and held safely afloat by their mandatory lifejackets.  We follow an extremely rigorous maintenance program, and all equipment is inspected at least once a day.  Our tow line has a minimum breaking strength of at least 1000lbs stronger than the industry standard and is of the highest quality obtainable.

Is parasailing safe?
Yes, extremely safe.  Parasailing is an extreme sport and it does carry risks.  However, our captains and crews are specially trained to minimize or avoid such risks.   You safety is our number one priority.

Do I have to hold on?
It is recommended that you hold on at all times.

Do I have to fly alone?
No.  You may fly two at a time if you like, as long as your combined weight does not exceed our maximum (restrictions apply).

Is there an age/size requirement?
There is no age limit, we have flown people as young as 5 and as old as 90.  There are minimum size and weight requirements (due to the size of our harnesses); children under age 5 are generally too small to correctly fit in our harnesses.  Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their liability waiver.

What if I am pregnant?
Our insurance does not allow us to take anyone who is pregnant on our boat.

Can I take my camera/phone or other electronic gear on the boat or up in the air?
Yes.  You are welcome to bring a camera, video camera or other electronics on the boat. However electronics are allergic to salt water. Cruzan Breeze Parasailing will not be held responsible for the loss or damage of anything electronic you bring onto the boat!  We strongly discourage you from carry any such items onboard at any time due to the extreme likely hood of damage from water spray, dips, etc.
